As a four-time super-middleweight world champion, there’s not much that fazes boxing legend Carl Froch. The former Fighter of the Year boasts an impressive record of 33 wins from 35 bouts including 24 knockouts, but he’s eager to improve on that tally by adding a few more scalps to his list – this time on the felt.

Since hanging up his gloves in 2015 Carl has maintained the same aggressive style that made him such a formidable force in the ring, and prepares for tournaments with just as much intensity as he did for a big fight. The man known as The Cobra is certainly no pushover and demonstrated his poker ability when he won the £1,250 entry Beat the Boss tournament at Dusk Till Dawn in June 2015.

What has been your biggest win so far?

I played a cash game at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham and won about £3,500.

Do you prefer live or online games?

My biggest win is in live poker, but I’ve been getting better at online tournaments recently…but I’ve never won anything!

What would you say the highlight of your poker career has been?

Signing for partypoker.

What is your top poker tip?

Poker is won and lost on a good or bad poker face. It’s important not to give anything away. Show no emotion and no fear.

What else are you known for?

As a three-time super-middleweight world champion in boxing.

Are there any players that you look up to?

Mike Sexton. He’s like my hero, especially after his recent win [at the WPT].

If you could play a game of poker with anyone, who would it be?

Mike Tyson. He’s my favourite fighter, I used to watch him in awe.

If you weren’t a poker player, what would you be?

I probably would’ve joined the Army. I quite fancied the Royal Marines, and I think I could’ve coped with it.
